Apple Mac Pro Data Recovery

If your Mac Pro is not starting and just shows a folder on the screen with a question mark, chances are the hard drive has failed.

If you don’t have a current Time Machine backup, don’t panic it is possible to recover the files from your Mac Pro.

If your Mac Pro is still under warranty we can still perform a data recovery on the drive and Apple will still honour the warranty on the failed drive. Give us a call if this is an issue.

Your local Apple Store (ours is Cabot Circus, Bristol) will sometimes take your Mac Pro in for the warranty repair and give you the hard drive so you can get the data recovered ( you may have to wait for us to return the drive before the repair is completed).

 

When submitting an Apple hard drive the type of details we find really useful are:

Was Filevault switched on? (file encryption, you have to switch this on)

What version of OSX is it i.e.  10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard,  10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion

What has been tried already?  This can make a difference to know in advance what has happened.

Has it been dropped?  (hopefully not in the case of an iMac)

Has it gotten wet?

What files or folders are a priority, i.e.Pictures in the Jamie profile (iPhoto Library)
